Generally, Angkor Wat is the term used to refer to the many complexes of ancient temples
and buildings that cover the area. Specifically, it is just the temple pictured below.

Angkor Wat was built in the early 12th century to honor the Hindu god Vishnu.

After climbing the incredibly steep stairs of one of the spires, one is rewarded with
a great view.

The wall that surrounds the complex is covered with stone bas-reliefs, depicting stories
of wars between people, gods and demons. Many of the figures have become shiny
from tourists touching them.

Perhaps the second most famous temple is that of Ta Prohm.

Giant trees dominate the old buildings.

Four-faced towers cover the temple of Bayon, located in the ancient walled city of Angkor Thom.

The size of the buildings were astounding.

Stone carvings covered the giant outer walls. Note that both sides of the face can be seen.

The appropriately named Terrace of Elephants.

The Terrace of the Leper King was covered with hundreds of images.

The temple of Banteay Srei, built in the late 10th century, was covered with
spectacular carvings.
