Agra fort was built in the 16th century by Akbar and later added to by his grandson
Shah Jahan (who made it more like a palace than a massive fortress).

The whole place is surrounded by a 2.5 kilometer long wall.

Inside the halls, ornately-shaped shelves were cut into the walls, presumably for candles.
Every square inch was painted with patterns and flowers.

Lal Qila, or the Red Fort, in Dehli was built by Shah Jahan from 1638 - 1648 to defend
the new capital.

Fatehpur Sikri, known as ‘the abandoned city”, is the remains of the old capital of the
area from 1570 - 1586 under emperor Akbar, who is buried in the white tomb.

Fatehpur Sikri's monumental gate of Shahi Darwaza.

The fort at Gwalior was a huge 3 km long complex built by Raja Man Singh (1486 - 1518).

The main gate or Hatya Paur (the elephant gate) was beautifully carved.
