Borobudor is the largest Buddhist temple in the world.
One can walk around the various levels, admiring all the intricate carvings and statues.
At the top are bell-shaped stupas with different shapes such as squares or diamonds.
Since squares are more stable than diamonds, they are considered to be on a higher spiritual level and are therefore located higher up the hill. Stone Buddha statues are buried deep
within each stupa.
Prambanan is the second largest Hindu temple in the world.
At one time, there were hundreds of these temples in the area, but now only a few remain.
The Kraton in Yogyakarta is where the current sultan lives. Many of the buildings have
no walls which is understandable given the extremely warm and humid climate.
