COYOTES

Occasionally forming loose packs, coyotes (also known as prairie wolves) are intelligent and versatile hunter-scavengers. They are primarily nocturnal (having adapted due to pressure from humans) but can occasionally be seen during the day. Hearing a coyote is much more common than seeing one.

Despite being extensively hunted, the coyote is one of the few larger animals that has actually enlarged its range since human encroachment began.

Its coat offers it excellent camouflage.
