RABBITS

Mountain Cottontails live in burrows and are generally active from dusk until dawn. They do not change their coat color during winter.

The Mountain Cottontail is normally solitary, perhaps because food and shelter can be sparse in their environment.

When the animal is frightened, it hides and freezes with its ears erect to assess the situation of danger.

The Mountain Cottontail inhabits brushy or wooded areas covered with grasses, willows and sagebrush.
